Cash funds & experience gifts
Already have the toaster? Ask for a flight, a fertility round, a charity donation, a deposit on a house. Gift List turns any registry into a place to receive money too.
How it works
- Connect Stripe in your settings. It's free, takes 2 minutes, and money goes straight to your bank account.
- Add a fund item. "Honeymoon fund", "Charity collection", "Travel jar"… you can set a goal or leave it open-ended.
- Suggest amounts. Guests see suggested contributions ($50, $100, $250) and can always type their own.
- Guests pay through Stripe. Card, Apple/Google Pay, link — whatever they prefer. They can include a name + message that lands in your gift inbox.
- You see contributions in your gift inbox. Send a thank-you the same way you would for a physical gift.
Fees
Gift List takes 5% per contribution to cover transaction costs.
Stripe charges their standard processing fee (~2.9% + 30¢ in Canada) on top.
Example: on a $100 contribution, Gift List keeps $5, Stripe takes ≈ $3.20, and ≈ $91.80 lands in your bank account.
What kinds of funds work?
- Honeymoon & travel — flights, accommodation, an experience for the trip
- Home deposit — down payment, closing costs, the first month of furniture
- Baby fund — daycare deposit, college 529, the things you didn't put on the registry
- Charity — pool donations on behalf of guests to a cause that matters to you
- Experiences — concert tickets, a fancy dinner, a couples massage
- Fertility, surgery, recovery — sensitive needs handled with the same dignity as a toaster
