How to Delete Your Account

In the Gift List app (instant): open Settings (the gear icon, top-right) → Delete account → confirm. Your account and all data are removed immediately and you're signed out.

On the web: request deletion from your account settings:

1. Sign in to your Gift List account.
2. Go to Settings → scroll to the Danger zone at the bottom.
3. Click Request account deletion. This opens a pre-filled email to our team from the address on your account.
4. Send it. We verify the request and permanently delete your account.

If you can no longer access your account, email us from the address you signed up with:

hello@giftlist.ca with the subject "Account deletion request".

Sending from your registered email lets us verify it's really you. If you have to email from a different address, we may ask a couple of questions to confirm ownership before deleting anything.

Deleting your account permanently removes:

• Your profile (name, email, password, profile picture) and any linked Google sign-in.
• All of your registries and the items on them.
• Reservations, purchase notes, and thank-you tracking you created.
• Cash-fund settings on your registries, and your sign-in tokens (web and mobile app).

We delete everything we can. A small amount of information may be retained only where the law requires it or to protect both sides:

• Payment records. If you collected money through a cash fund, the underlying transaction records held by our payment processor (Stripe) are kept for the period required by tax and financial regulations. These are not used for any other purpose.
• Aggregated, anonymous analytics. Usage statistics that can no longer be linked back to you.
• Email suppression. If you ask us never to email you again, we keep a minimal record of your email solely to honour that request.

We action deletion requests promptly — usually within a few business days, and always within 30 days. We'll email you to confirm once your account and data have been removed.
